Alma Cooper Hawkins Scholarship
The Fellowship established the Alma Cooper Hawkins Scholarship in June 1989, with the purpose of encouraging and motivating students to academic achievements and Christian excellence. The first scholarship was awarded in June 1990. In her last Will and Testament, Trustee Hawkins bequeathed $5,000 to the Fellowship for the scholarship fund. Numerous awards have been made from this fund to which each member contributes annually.
SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
*ONLY ONE APPLICATION FOR EACH CHURCH AFFILIATED WITH THE FELLOWSHIP*
Amount of Award: $1,200
Application Deadline: April 1, 2025
Date of Announcement and Presentation: June Trustee Fellowship Meeting
Determination: Based on Point System
Scholarship Funds will be paid directly to
the College or University the student plans to attend.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a graduating senior or eligible for a GED certificate
- Students must attend an accredited College or University
- Be an active member of a church participating in the Trustee Fellowship of Metropolitan Washington
- Recommendation from Homeroom Teacher or Counselor
- Recommendation from a Trustee Member of your Church
- Recommendation from the Pastor of your Church
- School Transcript for year 2024-2025 OR LATEST REPORT CARD
- Acceptance letter from the College or University you plan to attend
- Personal Interview with a committee member OR 450 to 500 word essay which shares with us something about your Christian walk in life, community involvement and how this scholarship would serve to enhance your Christian life.
